When registering a club, we ask that all volunteers obtain the necessary local background checks required to work with children in their country. However, we don’t interview or screen volunteers ourselves.
Examples of appropriate background checks would be the UK DBS check, or a Working with Children check in Australia.
It is the responsibility of the host and the volunteer to ensure these checks are completed before the club starts. Volunteers and hosts should meet face to face before the first club session, not only to verify checks, but also to plan club sessions and to make sure they are comfortable working together.
